Belarusians of Ottawa stand together with Ukraine against Russian aggression

Belarusians in Ottawa took part in two demonstrations against Putin’s war in Ukraine:

On February 6, 2022, a picket was held near the Russian Embassy, ​​which was attended by more than 200 people. The picket was attended by members of the Ottawa branch of the Belarusian Canadian Alliance and representatives of other diasporas, who came at the request of the organizers with appropriate banners. Anthems of Canada and Ukraine were performed during the rally, speeches and songs were heard; Belarusians were greeted with numerous shouts “Long live Belarus!”

On February 27, 2022, a demonstration took place from the Russian Embassy to the City Hall, attended by more than 2,000 people. Members of the Canadian Parliament, including the Opposition leader, representatives of Ukrainian organizations and diasporas, spoke at the rally near the Embassy. More than 30 Ottawa’ Belarusians took part in the rally and in the procession to the City hall.

Belarusians condemn Lukashenko, Putin’s accomplice and criminal, who joined the war in Ukraine as a result of his long-standing alliance with Russia.
