Ottawa’s Café Ukraine will host a fireside chat with The National Leader of Belarus, Sviatlana
Tikhanouskaya, for an intimate fireside chat in Ottawa on November 25, 2024, at 6.30-8.00pm.
The event is supported and co-sponsored by Journalists for Human Rights, World Press
Freedom Canada, The Parliamentary Centre, and the Macdonald-Laurier Institute and will bring
together activists, community members, and supporters to discuss Belarus’ pro-democracy
movement and the ongoing struggle for human rights in the region.
Tikhanouskaya, rose to international prominence following her leadership during Belarus’ 2020
presidential election and subsequent peaceful protest movement. She continues to be a
powerful voice for freedom and democracy for Belarus and throughout Central and Eastern
Europe. This special fireside chat at Café Ukraine offers a unique opportunity for attendees to
engage directly with Tikhanouskaya as she shares insights on the resilience of Belarusian civil
society, the challenges of exile, and the international community’s role in supporting democracy
in Belarus.
Admission is free, but seating is limited and registration is mandatory.
